Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Hi, I’m Cynthia Paredes, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing therapy to adolescents and adults navigating behavioral challenges, mood disorders, adjustment difficulties, complex PTSD, severe anxiety, stress, and treatment-resistant depression. I have a deep appreciation for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and I strive to create a safe, supportive space for clients to explore the factors, both internal and external, that may be impacting their well-being.

I believe that we all have an innate capacity to heal when given the right conditions. In my work, I aim to move beyond symptom management to help clients build deeper awareness of themselves and reconnect with their most authentic selves. Together, we explore unconscious beliefs and narratives shaped by childhood experiences, cultural messages, societal pressures, relationships, and past traumas. My approach is multifaceted and tailored to each client’s needs, drawing from Trauma-Informed Therapy, EMDR, Psychodynamic therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Interventions, and Solution-Focused approaches. I strive to bring warmth, compassion, and curiosity into every session and to honor each person’s unique journey.

I earned my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, and I’ve spent the past six years supporting individuals in both community and clinical settings, including as a bilingual therapist and as a clinician at a Ketamine Treatment Clinic.

If you feel ready to begin or continue your healing journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you, let’s connect and see how we can work together.
