Dr. Colyar of Thriving Center of Psychology is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Marital and Family Therapist who has provided mental health services to individuals and families from all backgrounds and of all ages for 30+ years in private practice. He has treated most of the major diagnostic disorders. He has a supportive, empowering, and psychoeducational approach to treatment. He finds it particularly rewarding when treatment calls for assisting and coaching with the development of skills to cope with and overcome professional, work-related, and relationship challenges or life disturbances encountered by those with adjustment, stress, anxiety, or depressive disorders. He specializes in the use of evidence-based methods (e. g. Behavioral /Cognitive techniques and Mindfulness training). His background experience includes 15 years of undergraduate and graduates university teaching of Psychology and Mental Health Counseling as a full-time and associate faculty member with a principal focus on teaching mental health counseling, positive psychology, and psychopathology courses.
