Jeffrey Hansen, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Jeffrey Hansen is a licensed Counseling Psychologist and licensed Addiction Counselor who works with adolescent and adult patients at his Eden Prairie, MN office. Dr. Hansen completed his training in addiction counseling at the University of Minnesota before completing his Master’s degree at St. Mary’s University in South Minneapolis and his Doctoral degree at the University of St. Thomas. He has held several specialized areas of practice including the treatment of co-occurring disorders in various settings and levels of care (high security inpatient, residential, and outpatient). Additional areas of specialization include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, persons diagnosed with personality disorder, and various psychotic presentations.
His approach for co-occurring disorder treatment is adaptive to a client’s presenting needs though often includes Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Cognitive Behavioral, Developmental, Dialectical Behavior, and Attachment Informed modalities as well as the use of 12 step principles. The same, or similar, approaches are utilized for additional difficulties a client may present with.
Some regular clients Dr. Hansen works with are individuals who are experiencing difficulties with substance use (potentially involving the maintenance of long term abstinence or the beginning steps of clarifying one’s relationship with addictive substances or behavior). Additional clientele may involve individuals struggling with mood disorders, problem recognition, phase of life challenges, integrating unplanned or unexpected experiences such as trauma, and/or unwanted developments in one’s personal life.
