Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Maria is a licensed clinical psychologist committed to guiding individuals through their mental health journeys. With a doctorate in clinical psychology from Carlos Albizu University in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maria brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice.

Throughout her clinical training, Maria had the privilege of being part of a comprehensive DBT program, where she led Family Connections groups, supporting loved ones of those with emotion dysregulation or Borderline Personality Disorder. Additionally, during her pre-doctoral internship at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, Maria specialized in treating adolescents and young adults with complex PTSD, personality disorders, self-harm, and emotion dysregulation, particularly those on the Autism spectrum.

In her practice, Maria utilizes a range of evidence-based modalities to create personalized treatment plans for each client. This includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches. She also integrates specialized treatments for PTSD, such as Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), tailored to address trauma-related concerns.

Furthermore, Maria modifies treatments for clients diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, to enhance their learning and processing capabilities. This ensures that they can engage more effectively in therapy and achieve meaningful progress.

Maria specializes in supporting adolescents, young adults, and adults grappling with a range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, self-harm, and suicidality. Her practice emphasizes creating a warm and encouraging environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and pursue their goals. Maria is particularly passionate about serving culturally diverse clients, especially those who identify as Latin-American or prefer Spanish-speaking therapists.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Maria enjoys spending time at the beach, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, diving into video games, immersing herself in literature, and expressing herself through playing the violin. Thank you for considering Maria as a partner in your journey towards greater well-being and fulfillment.
