Michaela Kauffmann, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Kauffmann believes in the significance and value of balance in the interrelationship of mind, body, spirit, person and environment for wellness and mental health to be maintained. She has been involved in study and practice in both the mental, physical health and wellness fields. Dr. Kauffmann graduated from the University of Hartford School of Professional Psychology, trained in clinical and health psychology at the Yale University School of Medicine, Waterbury Hospital and at Gaylord Hospital, CT. Additionally, she has trained in integrative wellness studies of natural approaches of Western and Oriental medicine. Dr. Kauffmann is a member of the American Psychological Association and is a certified Tele-mental health provider, Integrative Mental Health Clinician and Anxiety Treatment Specialist.
Dr. Kauffmann provides therapy for conditions including adjustment to life’s challenges and life stage issues, coping with depression, grief and loss, mood swings, anxiety, panic, trauma, working through acute and chronic health challenges, stress and pain management, caregiver concerns, lifestyle and health changes, and resolving personal and interpersonal issues. Using a variety of techniques including cognitive-behavioral (CBT), insight-oriented, psycho-educational, mind-body, stress management, relaxation based and supportive strategies, Dr. Kauffmann provides services to individuals aged 18 and older, families and couples.
Dr. Kauffmann approaches the therapeutic relationship with her clients in a collaborative, supportive and individualized fashion with the goal of fostering empowerment through helping her clients gain and build on their existing life skills, coping and communication strategies. Dr. Kauffmann seeks to promote her clients’ understanding of self, others, and life’s circumstances toward increased balance and wellness.
