Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Sonal Markanda implements effective, evidence-based psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage the development of a strong sense of self. She believes it is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from you, too. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.

Dr. Markanda strongly believes in a biopsychosocial approach, integrated assessment, attention to cultural and spiritual/religious factors, and working collaboratively with an individual’s established treatment team (primary care physicians, etc.) to provide an optimal counseling experience. She respects the courage it takes to attend counseling and finds it a privilege to be of service to others.

Dr. Markanda enjoys working with clients who are motivated, curious, open, flexible in thought, committed to the therapy process, and willing to do hard work. If your needs and goals are to feel calmer, have a more integrated sense of self, feel more secure and confident, grow and expand your thought processes, organize past life events, develop/increase spirituality, work towards independence, and promote holistic well-being through the use of evidence-based techniques and theories, Dr. Markanda will be a good fit! She also loves pets. She has a GSD & 3 cats. Dr. Markanda has training and certification in pet loss and grief. She values all relationships.
